How to make your Life Goals Real - with a Vision Board
What do you most want to accomplish or achieve in your lifetime? Bringing your future desires into the present moment with a Dream Board or a Vision Board is a powerful way to bring your dreams into reality. A picture is worth a thousand words!
Here’s how. Start with a large piece of white poster board - you can get this at a craft or hobby supply store. Then look through magazines, newspapers or the internet and gather the pictures, words and phrases that fit your dream or vision. You are looking for images that match the feeling underneath your vision. For me, a basket of fresh, organic vegetables represents the health and wellness I strive for in my life. I remember when I wanted to travel, I pasted on pictures of Paris and the Eiffel Tower - guess where I spent most time traveling in Europe!
Once you have chosen your images, words and phrases, create a collage on your poster board. Add some affirmations - and voila - you have a vision board. By looking at it frequently you can begin to feel the same feelings as when your vision is fulfilled. Your vision board should be so inspiring that the mere sight of it shifts your mood, uplifts your spirit and alters the quality of the choices you make.
I recommend placing it somewhere prominent so you can see it each day, to be a reminder of where you are headed. When you drop off to sleep, your subconscious mind is most receptive. Fantasize about exactly the person you want to be, the life you want to have and how you will feel when you have achieved it. Your subconscious will work on the remembered images. Often you will awaken with fresh ideas and insights to help make those mental pictures a part of your life. The vision board helps you to move beyond analytical thinking, allowing your intuition to guide you.
I have two vision boards going right now. I find them to be powerful and valuable. Have fun with this project and let me know how it goes!
